The Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) has joined GIRI (Get it Right Initiative) as a member.
GIRI is an industry-led organisation with a clear aim: to eliminate error and its associated consequences in the construction industry.
Its work focuses on improving productivity, safety and competency, and on reducing waste and rework by supporting people across the sector to get it right first time. GIRI brings together contractors, clients, designers and leading industry experts to support better outcomes across the UK construction industry.
This aligns closely with CCPI’s purpose. CCPI is an independently governed, not-for-profit organisation established following Dame Judith Hackitt’s review of building regulations and fire safety. It provides independent assessment and registration against the Code for Construction Product Information, supporting the delivery of product information that is clear, accurate, accessible, up to date and unambiguous.
Reliable construction product information is a critical input into many of the decisions that affect safety, compliance and long-term performance. Improving confidence in that information supports the Get It Right principle and helps reduce avoidable risk, rework and harm.
Amanda Long, Chief Executive of Construction Product Information Ltd, said:
“The Grenfell Tower fire highlighted serious failures in the trustworthiness and reliability of construction product information. As a duty-holder, if you want to get it right, having confidence in the product information on which you base your decisions is critical. We welcome the opportunity to engage with the GIRI community to support due diligence, reduce liability and help demonstrate compliance with the Building Safety Act.”
Membership of GIRI reflects a shared commitment to reducing error and supporting safer, more accountable outcomes across the built environment.
